I’ve seen people do the same thing in the US. Some of them looked less gay doing it. I’ve seen it done in Arkansas. I’ve seen it done on Long Island with both cars and motorcycles.

It’s done in the US Midwest all the time. We were doing it 30 years ago hanging onto bumpers or whatever was available to grab onto on cars, buses, or trucks, during the cold North West Indiana(Hammond)/North Eastern IL(Chicago) winters.

The difference being that the driver normally wasn’t a willing participant, and frequently didn’t even know, making it far more dangerous.
