I rent a DVD recently, when I tried to view it on my computer (I don’t own a TV, I think it’s useless) I couldn’t play it because I use Linux and it was DRM infected. I never got to see the damn movie.
It’s the last movie I will ever rent.
It’s kinda sad because in their effort to prevent “pirates” from viewing/copying the movie “illegaly” they also prevented a legitimate consumer from viewing what he actually PAIDFOR..
I used to rent at least 2~3 movies a week, but now I’m too pissed off to give them one more cent.
Well, if the products would not bring in about 100m (for an average blockbuster) in the first week or so (just by cinemas), i would actually consider paying for dowloading (when available).
But as it is now, the spend 10m on a movie and try to get at least 20x that as profit… THAT IS NOTHEALTHYBUSINESS!!! that is STEALING and monopolist behaviour!
P2P FTW :P
I love p2p too!!!

Netflix does the exact same thing to me, too. Soon as I load the DVDs from Netflix into my laptop, I get the DRM message.
That is, until I open the movie in VLC Player! Booya!
