I rent a DVD recently, when I tried to view it on my computer (I don’t own a TV, I think it’s useless) I couldn’t play it because I use Linux and it was DRM infected. I never got to see the damn movie.
It’s the last movie I will ever rent.
It’s kinda sad because in their effort to prevent “pirates” from viewing/copying the movie “illegaly” they also prevented a legitimate consumer from viewing what he actually PAID FOR..
I used to rent at least 2~3 movies a week, but now I’m too pissed off to give them one more cent.
I <3 P2P and hate DRM.

Netflix does the exact same thing to me, too. Soon as I load the DVDs from Netflix into my laptop, I get the DRM message.
That is, until I open the movie in VLC Player! Booya!

LOL! I hate blockbuster.
— DarkLight · Jun 6, 07:43 AM · #
Well, if the products would not bring in about 100m (for an average blockbuster) in the first week or so (just by cinemas), i would actually consider paying for dowloading (when available).
But as it is now, the spend 10m on a movie and try to get at least 20x that as profit…
THAT IS NOT HEALTHY BUSINESS!!! that is STEALING and monopolist behaviour!
P2P FTW :P

P2p is Peer to Peer, suc as Limewire, frostwire basically someone uploading music/video and someone getting it for free
— Junkyarddawggg · May 27, 06:15 PM · #
Extreme win.

P2P is the technology dishonest young folks use to steal music and movies nowadays.
— shukov · May 31, 10:08 PM · #
P2P is such a waste of internet bandwidth. Stop messing around and get on usenet, everything you can get on P2P only as fast as your broadband can go, NO uploading AND best of all it is 100% secure from those sneaky lawyers.
— Tony Cheetham · Jun 2, 12:22 PM · #
What is Usenet??
— Yo · Jun 4, 08:34 PM · #
You’re all losers who are too cheap to pay for films you enjoy and try to justify it with mind bogglingly stupid excuses!! You are stealing stuff, don’t try and pretend u are doing anything else.
— BowNet · Jun 5, 03:15 PM · #
You forget that stealing removes the original. P2P is not stealing by any definition of the word. We are sharing, and sharing is caring.
— Joe · Jun 8, 12:54 PM · #
lol, “losers who are too cheap to pay.” You are either too stupid to use the internet effectively, or you are part of the industry. Please explain how sharing a digital image, sound, or video is stealing. There is no physical object involved.
— kaj · Jun 25, 04:30 PM · #
For the sake of our film and music we have to download illegally. The industries are destroying the art. They’re promoting crappy assembly line bs like T-Pain and Michael Bay films. Let them rot, the artists will be better off for it at the end of the day anyways. Saying your robbing from the artists is like saying we should all buy from Nike so we can ensure sweatshop kids get their full 2 cents per day.
— Kip · Jul 8, 05:20 PM · #
first of all p2p file sharing is not “stealing”. in order for the movie, song, etc. to be available on a p2p server, it must be purchased by someone who wishes to share it. If i buy a dvd and invite someone to watch it with me, it’s not stealing.
— chris · Jul 11, 09:19 AM · #
for those people who think DRM stop people pirating please see www.defectivebydesign.com
(you too, RIAA)
— Jonathan · Jul 16, 05:19 AM · #
You don’t have to remove the original to steal. The definition is “to take without the owners consent.” By owning a copy without compensation to the author is theft (one’s and zero’s on your hard drive is still possession). Just because you have a Robin Hood mentality doesn’t make it right. Yes, DRM sucks, but it’s @ss’s like you guys that make it necessary. I’m not going to change any of your minds, but eff it, I’m sick of reading this crap and not saying something.
